Sarah E. Ball, LICSW, PIP, RPT

Sarah is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker working in private practice in Birmingham, Alabama. Sarah is a Birmingham-native and is proud to be raising her family and serving clients in the same beautiful town she grew up in. She is committed to meeting her clients where they are and walking with them in the healing process.

Sarah enjoys working from a strength-based and client-centered approach to help clients and families heal in a way that meets each person’s unique needs. Sarah specializes in working with children with attachment disruptions or complex developmental trauma, couples work, and trauma-related issues. 

She is a graduate of The University of Alabama, where she earned a Bachelor of Social Work degree and Master of Social Work degree. Sarah began her career in Nashville, Tennessee, working for Vanderbilt University Medical Center Psychiatric Department as an outpatient Therapist. Sarah continued her work at Pathways Professional Counseling, a family ministry of The Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes, where she worked with clients across the lifespan, specializing in attachment and trauma issues and serving on the Attachment and EMDR teams within the agency. 

Sarah is trained in utilizing Theraplay Level 1 techniques and the Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) model to work with children who have attachment challenges. Sarah is also a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) and has a full playroom to work with children in child-centered play therapy work. Sarah also utilizes Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help those affected by complex trauma. Sarah is also certified to provide the Prepare/Enrich assessment for both premarital and marriage therapy clients to working towards more connection and healing in their relationship.

Sarah and her husband are proud parents of a spunky little girl and an adorable Goldendoodle. In her spare time, she enjoys baking, arranging flowers, and is active in her church.
